Maple Leaf Foods, a premier Canadian food processing
company
Food production must follow a strict set of guidelines and
regulations to ensure compliance with food inspection rules.
Nothing can be left to chance. At Maple Leaf Foods, Priva is now
part of that process, providing required and accurate data.
Tracing its roots back well over 170 years, Maple Leaf Foods has
a long history of quality food production and has become the
largest food processor in Canada. Today the company has operations
in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Asia and
Mexico.
HECO Limited, a Priva partner in St. Catharines, Ontario, has
been responsible for maintenance of the climate control at the
Brantford production plant for many years. Fifteen evaporators in
the processing line were recently renovated and update by HECO
using Priva solutions. The installation is now continuously
monitored and protected by two Priva HX4 controllers.
With Priva Top Control, Maple Leaf Foods
can now monitor all the temperatures and equipment in the different
sections of the plant. The data provided by Top Control and
TC History can be used to prove compliance with the requirements
set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency regulations.
One of the challenges of the site was that different operators
are working different shifts and there needed to be an oversight of
what what happening at all times. Depending on the level of
authorization, various production and maintenance personel can make
changes in the controls using either an uncomplicated touch screen
or from different workstations located at the site. Since each
user has thier own login, Priva's User Management functionality
easily keeps track of all changes, allowing the manager to monitor
who makes changes to the system as well as see what the changes are
and when they were made.
